Okay so after yesterdays blog, i decided to re-vamp my speech. This is the second draft, and I do believe this is the one I am going to go with. If anyone out there reads this...PUH-LEASE comment and let me know what you think... The last thing I want is to get up in front of a crowd and make myself look like an idiot! Please remember when reading, that I was asked to Introduce Don to the audience...Here goes Nothing:
I was introduced to Jake Owen Rabornin December of 2004 by way of CaringBridge, a website created by Jakes family to keep family members, friends & prayer warriors alike updated on Jakes condition.
Though I hadn't met Jake, I immediately fell in love with the little boy whose blue eyes melted my heart every time i saw his face smiling back at me from my computer screen.
Soon, visiting Jakes site became part of my daily routine... I checked his site every day for news... Every day then, and every day still since Jakes passing.
Jakes story sparked such a fire in me that in December of 2007, I found myself in a car making an 8 hour drive to Memphis just to cheer for "Team Jake" at the St. Jude Children's Marathon.
It was there that I got to meet, Staci, Jakes mom and Melanie (also known as "Mo"), Jakes aunt.
Today it gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Jakes dad... A Man who has truly been an inspiration to me in setting a fine example that you can still "Believe" in the face of adversity.
Ladies & Gentlemen: Please help me welcome, Mr. Don Raborn!
